'Our CERN Physics trips really fuel our students’ enthusiasm and interest'

Dr Ali Galloni, Head of Science and Technology at Sevenoaks School in  the UK tells us here why she has led over 20 trips to CERN, the world’s leading Physics research centre in Geneva.

“Physics is not just one field; there’s engineering, computer science and all the stuff that goes on around it. When students go to CERN they can see this for themselves. Physics can seem quite abstract in the classroom and these trips are great for fuelling their enthusiasm. They also get a thrill from being with like-minded people.

“When we come back I see a huge difference in their interest and awareness of the subject. They are also more confident in applying themselves to problem solving.

“Even though I know CERN very well, I would still recommend using a specialist tour operator for these trips. I always know that if anything goes wrong, they’ll be there to help.”
