A new destination for your next concert tour - the South of France

Paris is the obvious choice for a French school music tour for many ensembles, but have you ever considered taking your music group to the South of France?

Based in the stunning Languedoc-Roussillon region of France, home to some of the loveliest weather and the most stunning scenery in the country, we’re delighted to be offering this new destination.

“This area is not only full of history and beautiful scenery, it is also very welcoming and concerts are so appreciated,” said Club Europe’s Senior Operations Manager Sabine Majdalani. “And the food is certainly another highlight!”

We particularly recommend this part of France for groups who like to perform outdoors. Concerts are usually held in the evenings due to the heat and take place in wide variety of picturesque squares, courtyards and bandstands. Concerts can be held across the region in Avignon as well as in Sommières itself.

A whole host of festivals are held during the summer months in the region, in which groups of a good standard are able to take part.

There are also so many wonderful things to do and see in this beautiful region. You could do some sightseeing in Vaison-la-Romaine, go and see the Roman amphitheatre, medieval old town and wine museum. Or take a day trip to the coast, to the resort of Stes-Maries-de-la-Mer. There is an incredible 3-level Roman aqueduct spanning the river Gard and in Orange and Arles, some amazing Roman monuments, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

This summer a big band and choir from Surrey enjoyed a wonderful music tour to the South of France. “It was excellent,” their teacher Lesley said. “The accommodation was flexible and had a homely feel with room to relax and move around at will.”

One of their concerts was in Sommières itself: “It was a lovely intimate atmosphere. We had a really receptive audience – they were dancing and taking pictures!”
