Our ski team- where it all began - Luke

  • Nov 21, 2016

In the third of a series of blogs in which we’re introducing you to our wonderful ski team, this week, it’s our Senior Account Manager, Luke Pierce.

Luke has been with Club Europe for six years. Starting as Ski sales advisor, he is now head of the international ski and sports tours.

We started by asking Luke for his earliest skiing memories.

“My parents took me skiing when I was three years old to Austria and I remember staying in an Austrian guest house and they kept their cows the floor below. The two memories from those Austrian ski holidays were the smell of the those cows when you entered that room and the huge frankfurters that I looked forward to for lunch.

“I was already skiing at three and maybe not turning as much as I should but even if I fell, the distance to the floor was very little.

“My family moved to Portugal when I was 10 and I thought this was the end of my skiing to Austria but I found Sierra Nevada, Spain and away I went again.

Luke told us how he began working for Club Europe: “Neilson ski, Crystal ski and Tui made up six years of my life after uni. Great experiences but I found moving within these big companies very challenging plus felt like a bit of number in such huge organisation.

“I knew I wanted to work for a niche ski company and finally after a further five years working and travelling, I found Club Europe when I relocated to London.

“I can appreciate why people surf or climb mountain and skiing has so many similar elements that I look for in a sport. Technically challenging, physically demanding, tranquil and social.

“My life has developed through skiing and I feel very passionately about the experiences young people can have if they try this incredible sport. I started at three and took my first school ski trip at 12 and after that I knew I wanted more and now I’m 40 this year I could not think of a job I would rather be doing than working in the offices of a school ski operator.

“I love working for Club Europe because it places the customers first and not the profit. It’s a small team but very experienced who have worked together for over 5 years now.”

One of Luke’s favourite mottos: ‘Do what’s right for the customer and the rest will take care of itself.’
