Have you considered a ski trip during the Easter holidays?
Not only are prices generally cheaper, queues shorter, and choice of accommodation wider; high altitude resorts and modern snow-making facilities also ensure surprisingly great conditions. To quote the Ski Club of Great Britain:.
“Easter is often overlooked but even when Easter falls later in April (…), milder temperatures and longer daylight hours make it a more comfortable experience, while quieter slopes make it a good time to learn”.
Many of our Austrian resorts are acclaimed as some of the highest or best resorts for snow coverage and long seasons. With its top height of 2,380 metres above sea level, Obertauern has proved popular with many of our clients returning at Easter, while at 2,530 metres, Kühtai is technically the highest ski resort in Austria. Both benefit from high alpine bowls that provide sheltered skiing, great snow and easy access to all runs for skiers of all abilities.
On the other hand, thanks to modern snow-making techniques, vast reservoirs of water for snow cannon, and the facility to store snow over summer; a resort doesn’t have to be on a glacier or over 2,500 m to be viable at Easter. Kitzbühel consistently wins top marks from the skiresort test portal and has been awarded World’s Best Ski Resort for the last 6 years, partly thanks to its guaranteed snow coverage from October to May.
But if you are concerned and want to have a glacier as back-up, choose from Saalbach-Hinterglemm with its brand-new link to the Kaprun glacier from 2020 or Schladming-Dachstein where you will have easy access to the Dachstein glacier. Be reassured that at Club Europe, we offer a snow guarantee, meaning that if conditions are really poor in the resort you have been booked into, we will ensure you are either moved to somewhere more suitable or transferred daily to a ski area with appropriate snow conditions.
One final comment from our ski operations manager:
“Remember that this trip is for the students. Starting and finishing early while conditions are good and energy levels are high will mean that your group get more than enough skiing in. Quieter resorts mean more spacious accommodation, no queues, a far less hectic atmosphere, and of course, lower prices”.
