With a flight time of less that an hour from London and no immigration controls when travelling to Jersey from the UK, we arrived with plenty of time to explore the island!

First we picked up our hire car from the airport and headed off in search of Jersey FA taking in the beautiful scenery which feels like a French twist on a British coastal town! We arrived at Springfield Stadium, where the FA are located, and were very impressed by the quality of the 3G pitch where one of Jersey’s top schools were training. From there it was a short 10 minute walk to the Mayfair Hotel which is often used for sports groups visiting the island. Boasting a games room, gym, weights room and heated indoor pool it wasn’t hard to see why it is a popular choice.

Next it was time to check in to Jersey Accommodation and Activity Centre (JAAC), one of our group accommodations that we would be staying in on the east of the island. We were shown around the centre which is perfect for groups with lots of communal indoor space as well as outdoor activities including frisbee golf, archery, football and space for a BBQ. After dropping our bags off in our spacious rooms we jumped back in the car to visit one of the islands top tennis clubs. We checked out their 10 top quality indoor and outdoor courts before driving to the home of the Jersey Reds RFC.

Jersey Reds are the biggest professional rugby team on the island who play in the RFU Championship. They have a large youth division and can offer fantastic coaching and matches for touring groups. We had a look around their club house, with many impressive trophies, and their 6 quality pitches available for use by groups. Their location near the airport is very convenient as you can be at the club ready to train within 10 minutes of landing in Jersey!

To finish off day one in Jersey we headed down to St Ouen’s bay, where the surf school we work with is located, and had a great meal at Watersplash beach bar whilst looking out over the beautiful views of Jersey’s coast.

Keep an eye out next week for what we got upto on our second day in Jersey or if you can’t wait until then, contact our sports team on freephone 0800 496 4996 to find out about our Jersey sports tours.
