Day two in Jersey was kicked off with a visit to the Merton Hotel in St Saviour. Another great facility for groups, this hotel has 3 restaurants, a games room and evening entertainment as well as our favourite part next door, the Aquadome. This is a highlight for groups staying here as it has an indoor pool with slides, an outdoor heated pool and the ‘Flowrider’ where you can practice your surfing skills!

Next on our to do list was Jersey Zoo and Durrell Wildlife centre where the excitement continued. We were shown the accommodation next door to the zoo that groups can stay in, which will gain them free access to the zoo, and also the glamping area just next to the Lemur enclosure! From there we headed back into St Helier, the central hub of the island where we grabbed some lunch in the sunshine.

After lunch we went to meet with Jersey Netball Association. We saw the great facilities at Fort Regent leisure centre and learned about the fantastic opportunities for girls in Netball on the island, after all it is the home of England Netball star Serena Guthrie! Local clubs and schools love to welcome touring teams for training or matches and if you’re lucky there may even be the opportunity to watch Team Jets play a match. We also found out that in Jersey, netball is not just for girls. Mixed netball has become increasingly popular over the last few years so why not play a fun match with your rugby team against a local side.

Our last visit of the trip was to Les Ormes. This resort has some lovely lodges and apartments to stay in with plenty of activities on site. We got to see the football dome where groups could train on 3 artificial grass 5-a-side pitches as well as their sports centre with a gym and top quality tennis and netball courts often used by Team Jets.

“Our time in Jersey was amazing! Great weather, great facilities as well as friendly, welcoming people, groups will really enjoy their time out there. I was particularly impressed with the high quality, sporting nature of Jersey. Get your students on a tour to Jersey… you won’t regret it!!” - Jeff Duah-Kessie, Sports Account Manager.
