It can be the young and vibrant university city of Leipzig with its famous Gewandhaus Orchestra, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s house, the Thomaner church (Bach’s heritage) and numerous art galleries. But it is also steeped in the history of the reunification of Germany and offers unique culture and baroque beauty such as the city of Dresden with its Semper Opera, located along the river of Elbe. It is also famous for having many historical castles including the Escape Castle Colditz and numerous spa towns. In the south of the region, there is an area known as the music valley because it has around 100 workshops and factories where instruments are created. Guided visits can be arranged to some of these workshops so you can see the traditional crafts behind musical instrument making.

Moritzburg has become famous for its horse breeding and carp farming as well as through the activities of artist Käthe Kollwitz. In winter 1972/1973, the Baroque castle was the festive backdrop for “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella”, one of the most popular German fairy-tale movies.

We understand that school music tours are considered as a reward or holiday for many groups and that where you stay is really important. All hotels and hostels we use are suitable for young music ensembles with many offering rehearsal space and instrument storage. Rooms are normally multi-bedded for students and twins, sometimes singles, for adults. Generally, rooms are en-suite.
