School Music Tours to Riviera del Brenta

  • A river of historic villas stretching from Venice to Padua
  • A charming place where Venetian noblemen chose to retreat during 16th-18th centuries
  • Perfectly placed for visits to both Verona and Venice

The Brenta Riviera, a famous waterway between Padua and Venice, and the natural extension of the Grand Canal is a landscape area of great historical interest and a wonderful destination for a school music tour. The nobles and patricians of the Republic of Venice chose this location for their summer vacations. Here they built their beautiful houses along the river, surrounded by monumental gardens and frescoed by the most important artists of the time such as Palladio, Sansovino, Titian, and Tintoretto.

Extra Activities/Excursions

  • Padua: Visit Padua, a magnificent city in Northern Italy’s Veneto region. It’s known for the frescoes by Giotto in its Scrovegni Chapel in 1303–05 and the vast 13th-century Basilica of St. Anthony. The basilica, with its Byzantine-style domes and notable artworks, contains the namesake saint’s tomb. In Padua's old town are arcaded streets and stylish cafés frequented by students of the University of Padua, established in 1222.
  • Euganean Hills: Visit the Euganean Hills that unexpectedly stand out in the heart of the Venetian plain along with their distinctive conical shapes. Their quite perfect geometry is the stunning outcome of volcanic activity dating back to over 40milion years ago.
  • Venice: Visit Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs.
  • Verona: Visit Verona, famous as the setting of Shakespeare’s "Romeo and Juliet." A 14th-century residence with a tiny balcony overlooking a courtyard is said be “Juliet’s House."  In Verona you can also  visit the famous Arena, a huge 1st-century Roman amphitheatre, which currently hosts large-scale opera performances.
