Via Lattea is the Italian name for the Milky Way. This name was chosen for a series of interconnecting villages which collectively form 400 km of ski slopes (one of the largest ski areas in Europe).
The 8 villages are Sestriere, Sauze D’Oulx, Pragelato, Oulx, Sansicario, Cesana, Claviere and Montgenevre (which is actually in France). Recently the village of Bardonecchia has been added to the area, thanks to a new partnership. This comes with 100 more kilometres of skiing! There is tremendous skiing to be done in all the Via Lattea villages, to suit all abilities. We have selected a few that are particularly apt for school groups. The beginning of the Via Lattea It is just 1 hour away from Turin and its airport and is also connected to a dense network of roads and motorways, so is easy accessible by coach too. What is more, the lift pass prices are extremely competitive!
