During the pandemic Snow-Camp have continued to provide young people with training and support remotely:
* Their apprentices have been working from home while working on their NVQ in Activity Leadership or an SQL in Sports Coaching qualification.
* The young people on Snow-Camp’s instructor training programme, Excel, have been keeping up with their learning online and practicing mock lessons over Zoom.
* Snow-Camp’s Youth Forum have been holding quizzes and workshops and programme managers have hosted online tutorials, sharing videos of encouragement and support from Snow-Camp Patrons and Ambassadors, such as Chemmy Alcott and Frank Gardner.
* The charity launched a series called Be Inspired, where guest speakers from the snowsports industry have given talks to the young people over Zoom, sharing their own stories of struggle, overcoming adversity and achievements within sport.
* They have created a dedicated area of support for young people on their website, full of resources and advice to help them while they are unable to get back to the slopes. The charity’s mental health and wellbeing programme, Uplift, has come into its own as the pandemic has unfolded.
* Snow-Camp apprentices and volunteers are working towards a Mental Health Awareness for Sport and Physical Activity qualification with UK Coaching and Mind.
"The last few months have been unique and challenging for Snow-Camp, as they have been for everybody. We have found new and creative ways to carry on delivering sessions, despite the new restrictions. We’ve learnt a lot of new skills and it's been an incredible team effort to get through this period. We can’t wait to get our young people back on the slopes soon. It’s not been easy, but we know we are doing everything possible to support our young people, at this time when they need us the most."
