A French Language Trip to Lyon, a UNESCO World heritage site, offers something a bit different

January 08, 2025

‘A really fun trip in a wonderful city!’

A deputy headteacher from a school in the South East has returned from a French Language trip to Lyon. Lyon is steeped in history and has diverse sites to explore from the silkweavers’ labyrinth of Traboules, which were later used to help Resistance fighters communicate during WW2, to the Musée Lumière, the birthplace of cinematography.

Here’s what the party leader said about her Club Europe experience:

'Great organisation and help and a lot of flexibility even at short notice.’

The highlights of their trip included a tour of Lyon’s old town and a silk weaving workshop, as well as the Musée Lumière,

‘The guide was great and we could go around 30 minutes before the museum opened to the public, which meant we had the whole space for ourselves! The students enjoyed going around the museum afterwards and learnt loads!!!’

Another area to explore is the Roman city of Lyon at the Lugdunum Musée et Théâtres Romains,

The students loved it and we had to tear them away after 2 hours.’
