Discover typical recipes and dishes
The fascinating food culture is what brings those interested in food back to Italy over and over again. Every Italian cares passionately about what they eat, and those who sell and create the food do so with love and care, using recipes that are handed down through generations. In Rome, a city with 3,000 years of history, your students will discover typical recipes and dishes, and will have the opportunity to make pizza, pasta and learn about chocolate and gelato making, returning home with a greater understanding and passion for Italian cuisine.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1
Fly to Rome. Transfer by coach to the city centre for a panoramic sightseeing tour, followed by a pizza-making class. Afterwards, enjoy your own pizza together with a typical buffet of local cheese, salamis and bruschetta. Transfer to your hotel.
Day 2
Morning shopping in the Prati area for shopping at the market for your ingredients for today’s workshop. You’ll learn how to make tagliatelle and a typical dessert. Enjoy eating the fruits of your labour afterwards. Rest of day sightseeing at the Castel Sant’Angelo.
Day 3
Full day’s excursion to Perugia, home of the famous Perugina chocolate. Here you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the museum followed by a visit to the chocolate factory itself, with sampling of the chocolates. Time to explore Perugia, followed by a visit to the 12th century town of Spoleto on the way back to Rome.
Day 4
Morning visit to the Giovanni Fassi Palazzo del Freddo, home of the Fassi gelato since 1880. The tour includes the history behind the factory and its gelato production, as well as time in the gelato laboratory, where you can sample its delicious ice cream. Afternoon visit with guided tour of the Colosseum. Farewell meal in a local restaurant.
Day 5
Coach transfer to airport and flight home.

Your group will be based in a centrally located 3 star hotel. Only a short journey to the many attractions, you will relax in comfort with students in multi-bed rooms and adults in singles.

We agree a three-stage process so that payments can be staggered to make it easier for parents.
You should book your tour between 8-18 months in advance. This will give us time to secure the best possible accommodation and excursion programme for your tour and you will have ample time for fundraising should you need to do so.
