Berlin, having been witness to the 20th century’s most momentous events when the wall came down in 1989, is now a multi-faceted city full of optimism and crammed with culture. Its vicinity to Leipzig, where Germany’s historical change kicked off, makes a history trip even more exciting especially for the coming up anniversary.
Day 1
Afternoon arrival in Berlin by air, take the S-Bahn/U-Bahn to your accommodation. Time to settle in and explore the local area. Evening meal at your accommodation, then a guided tour of the Reichstag followed by an evening walk to the Brandenburg Gate.
Day 2
Full day’s sightseeing in Berlin, to include Checkpoint Charlie Museum followed by the Holocaust Memorial. Time for lunch and an afternoon visit to the DDR Museum, followed by time for some shopping at the Ku’Damm. Evening spent bowling in Alexander Platz.
Day 3
Spend your day visiting various memorials and museums in Berlin – Bebelplatz, Place of Tears, Potsdamer Platt, the East Side Gallery and the Berlin Wall. Spend your evening at the hostel, enjoying games, activities, quizzes and a DVD.4
Day 4
Morning on the Berlin Underground Tour, a labyrinth of bunker complexes and military installations from WW2 and the Cold War. Rest of the day free in Berlin for final sightseeing and souvenir shopping.
Day 5
Morning departure to airport to return back to school.
Enjoy a guided visit of one of Germany’s most historic buildings and get a magnificent view from its iconic dome.
Situated at the best known crossing point between East and West Berlin during the Cold War.
Visit the harrowing memorial dedicated to those that lost their lives in the Holocaust.
See the 1.3m section of the Berlin Wall in the centre of Berlin.

The city of the “Peaceful Revolution” which finally led to the fall of the Wall on 9th November 1989. The year 2019 will be its 30th anniversary and the city will not only remember it with marches and temporary memorials, you can also learn about the history on a guided tour through “The Zeitgeschichtliches Forum Leipzig”, a museum of contemporary German history, as well as a tour at “The Round Corner”, the former Stasi Head Quarters.
Youth hostels in central Berlin, with excellent access both on foot and by public transport to all the city’s attractions.

Yes, there are many advantages to this. One is that greater numbers sign up which means a lower tour price per student. Another is that a diverse (two-subject) itinerary can broaden the horizons of both ‘groups’ though, of course, we can create separate agendas for each if preferred.
