“I have had excellent service as always. We used the sites as sources of historical evidence to aid GCSE performance. All aspects of the trip...”

Our field centre lies in a quiet and beautiful rural area of Sierra de Gredos, just over two hours’ drive to the west of Madrid. Our groups are both accommodated and taught at the centre itself, with many activities also taking place on site. Groups can also enjoy day trips to Salamanca and Avila and enjoy the challenge of a treasure hunt in both cities!
Day 1
Arrive at the Gredos Centre. Afternoon visit to the Limestone Caves, Cuevas Del Aguila.
Day 2
River Studies along the main river Tormes or the meandering stream Mesegoso.
Day 3
Visit the Regional Park Sierra de Gredos for Glacial or Footpath Erosion Studies, includes a walk up to the main corrie (2,5 h.).
Day 4
Focus on changing economic activities in rural settlements, comparing two villages Navarredonda de Gredos with San Martin de la Vega. In the evening enjoy a last night party.
Day 5
Depart for Madrid for flight home. Stop en route in Ávila for Urban Settlement Studies, visiting Avila’s old city, its medieval wall and cathedral.
(flights will be in/out of Madrid- itinerary can be extended to include Madrid if the groups wish) visit El Prado, the largest museum of art in the world, Bernabeu football stadium and the Royal Palace.
See the Plaza Mayor, 16th century Casa de las Conchas and the New and Old Cathedrals lying side by side.
Spain’s former capital; enjoy its winding streets, with its Arab, Jewish and Christian monuments.
A traditional Spanish farming village, now more orientated towards tourism.
A village on the outskirts of Madrid, now home to theme park, Parque Warner Madrid.
Ávila's old city, surrounded by imposing city walls comprising eight monumental gates, 88 watchtowers and more than 2500 turrets, is one of the best-preserved medieval bastions in Spain.
Our groups stay at the field centre itself. Students are in large multi-bedded rooms and staff in singles where possible. There are two separate classrooms and a social area where groups can gather. There is a sports field and plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors.
Yes, there are many advantages to this. One is that greater numbers sign up which means a lower tour price per student. Another is that a diverse (two-subject) itinerary can broaden the horizons of both ‘groups’ though, of course, we can create separate agendas for each if preferred.
We carefully listen to your curriculum needs and tailor-make your itinerary to achieve the best possible result.
The most pleasant time of year to come to Europe is between May and September; you may wish to consider this when planning your tour. Summer temperatures across Europe range from 18-35 degrees Celsius. European cities in winter can also offer many interesting cultural experiences that you may enjoy.
