Gems school off to Italy for Geography trip

A Gems school from Dubai are heading to Campania, South West Italy for an amazing Geography trip.

Based in Naples, their trip will include a full day visit to Pompeii, once a thriving and sophisticated Roman city before the the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.

They will also spend a day exploring the fascinating volcanic landscape of the Phlegraean Fields in Solfatara, where they’ll visit the ruins, hot springs, caves and volcanic lakes that have inspired the likes of Virgil, Dante, Horace and Boccaccio.

On the island of Capri, they’ll see as the Blue Grotto, a dark cavern where the sea glows electric blue. While in Rome, they will visit many of the famous sights including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Palatine Museum, the Baths of Caracalla, Via Appia and St Peter’s Basilica.
