Sestriere sits at the heart of one of Europe’s biggest ski areas known as the Via Lattea (Milky Way). There are 146 skiable pistes which together total 390km of runs, of which 120 are provided with artificial snow. The skiing is divided between 2 north west facing peaks. A gondola provides easy access out of Sestriere into the rest of the ski system.
The Milky Way is the greatest of all runs on the North Western Alps and the greatest in North West Italy offering approximately 400 kilometres of skiing. Its five Piedmontese resorts are all snow-sure by a programmed artificial system, which has nine drifting basins.
With world class skiing, beautiful vistas and a relaxed Italian atmosphere, Sestriere offers amazing, high altitude skiing conditions for all abilities of skiers.
View piste mapSestriere is a cosmopolitan and lively ski resort. It has plenty of bars and restaurants. Groups will always find great places to spend their evenings with restaurants offering delicious food. Pinky’s Pizzeria is a firm favourite!
Activities your students can enjoy include indoor golf, shopping, ice-skating, indoor pools, paintballing and bobsleighing. There is also a cinema and a library.
There are lots of intermediate trails and challenging runs for advanced skiers, as well as beginner slopes. In addition to some fantastic ski schools, there is a range of accommodation, including large hotels, to suit different group sizes. The relaxed atmosphere creates the perfect place for student ski trip groups.
It regularly hosts Alpine Ski World Cup events but its biggest moment came when it was chosen as the centre for the alpine events in the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and the Winter Paralympics; it hosted all the men’s and women’s alpine skiing competitions and was the site of one of the three Olympic Villages.
Once your school ski trip is booked, it is safely in our hands. We will only ask for your assistance in understanding your specific requirements and you will be responsible for ensuring that the dates on our checklist are adhered to. During the process, we will also ask you to provide accurate student and teacher names, passport and dietary requirement details where appropriate.
Snow Security: Snow cannons operate in all our resorts to assist satisfactory snow cover on the lower slopes. This means in many Austrian resorts, skiing is now possible from early December until late April making Easter skiing an attractive proposition.
Snow Guarantee: We will pay up to £30 per person per day towards additional costs of transport and lift pass if all the lifts in your resort are closed due to adverse weather conditions or lack of snow.
You should book your trip between 12-18 months in advance. This will give you the best choice of accommodation and allow parents plenty of time to save up, but we always welcome late bookings.
