Choir leaders give Hungary the thumbs up

We recently took eight choir leaders on a Familiarisation trip to Tokaj in Hungary.

Spending time in Tokaj and Eger, two lesser-known gems in a wine-tasting region, the group had a chance to see potential performing venues and explore this beautiful area.

Among other venues, they visited the chapel and concert hall in Eger and the Royal Palace at Gödöllő.

Here's what they had to say about their visit:

  • choir tour fam trip to Eger visit wine cellars

"This trip was extremely useful in every way. We could observe the concert spaces and hotels so that I can sell the tour to the choir from a knowledge base.

The venues were perfect and had a range of different options.

This gives us a two centre option together with Budapest: Eger for  two nights of a 4/5 night tour."

Jane Hampson

"I think the fact that it’s a wine-growing region would appeal to an adult choir. A wine-tasting session could provide a bit of non-musical entertainment. It’s also good that the hotels and venues are all fairly walkable distances from each other."

Linda Volti

  • Visit Tokaj wineyard as part of your next choir tour to Hungary

"It was veru useful to establish whether Eger was a suitable destination for a choir tour. The main benefits for a group staying in Eger were that there were large venues and a busy tourist area with opportunities for social and sight-seeing activities.

"We are currently considering Hungary and Italy as destinations for 2020."
