A pre-Christmas treat for both students and staff! Enjoy a heady mix of cross-country skiing lessons in the crisp, fresh snow, an exhilarating night-time horse-drawn sleigh ride, time at a typical Christmas market and time in the cities of Salzburg and Munich. You’ll stay in one of our friendly family-run accommodation centres in the mountains, surrounded by awe-inspiring scenery which will put everyone in the most Christmasy of spirits!
You’ll have the opportunity to perform at one of the Christmas markets, in Salzburg city itself or at Hellbrunn Castle, where an a capella performance is required. Many local churches welcome choirs to perform, while Salzburg cathedral provides the most impressive space and gorgeous acoustics.
Day 1
Flight departs UK in the morning. Transfer by coach to Rosenheim for evening performance at the church. Continue by coach to St Johann im Pongau. Time to relax and settle in.
Day 2
Morning cross-country ski lessons. Afternoon enjoy a walk in the stunning snowy landscape. Evening horse-drawn sleigh ride.
Day 3
Full day visit to Salzburg. Visit the city’s Christmas markets, and enjoy a performance at Salzburg Cathedral or a more informal one at Hellbrunn Palace’s Christmas market. Visit Mozart’s birthplace and take time to do some Christmas shopping.
Day 4
Depart after breakfast for Munich. Enjoy a walking tour or simply spend time at the city’s 12 Christmas markets that are scattered across the city! Afternoon departure from Munich airport for UK.
We base or groups in St Johann im Pongau in one of our excellent youth guest houses. Here you’ll find a lovely family welcome, good nourishing food, comfy warm rooms and some fun facilities including trampolines and a ball pit. Outside there is plenty of space to play around in the snow, as well as a cosy hut where you can warm up by the fireside. There’s also a path from the accommodation that takes you into the town, some 20 minutes’ walk.
The most pleasant times of year to come to Europe are May to September, therefore you may wish to consider this when planning your tour. Summer temperatures across Europe range from 18-35 degrees Celsius. European cities in winter can also offer many interesting cultural experiences that you may enjoy.
Once your tour is booked, it is safely in our hands. We will only ask for you assistance in understanding your concert requirements and you will be responsible for ensuring that the dates on our checklist are adhered to. Until your departure, you simply need to prepare your musicians musically and compile the tour repertoire.
We accept any group as long as they are used to performing together as an ensemble, even if only to their fellow students and parents. We always ask for a recent recording of your group and we have range of venues on offer that will welcome beginner groups as well as experienced ensembles.
