Our Choral Fortnight event has been specially designed for school and youth choirs. Performances can be a combination of sacred and secular music but we recommend preparing enough of each for at least one concert.
Choirs will be based in the lovely spa town of Montecatini Terme in the heart of Tuscany. During your stay, you’ll have the chance to visit some of the nearby towns and cities of interest, including Florence and Pisa, where you may also perform.
During the fortnight, we’ll be arranging all sorts of experiences for your students. There will be special events, prestigious performances that may include places such as the famous Tettuccio Spa in Montecatini Terme, as well as a concert in Pisa Cathedral, as well as occasions to meet other choirs, including local musicians. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore Tuscany on some excursions.
During this exciting event, we’ll be giving you access to some very special performance venues which would normally be out of many choirs’ budgets to hire. You’ll also enjoy a festival atmosphere, with the opportunity to meet other choirs from the UK, Italy and, we expect, beyond. If your dates coincide with other groups you can be involved in a massed performance.
There’s no competitive element to our Choral Fortnight. This is simply an event that celebrates performance, where we want everyone, whatever their standard and experience, to enjoy the opportunity to perform to new audiences, in some stunning venues.
‘Cantando’ Tuscan Choral Fortnight will span 2 weeks, from 29th June to 13th July 2019, with choirs arriving and departing anytime within that period. You can choose your dates within this period and we’ll organise some special experiences for you during your stay. We’d encourage you to stay at least 4 nights in order to get the most out of the Choral Fortnight.
Where you’ll stay
You’ll stay in a 3 star hotel in Montecatini Terme. Students will be in 3 or 4 bedded rooms and adults in twin rooms, all rooms having their own bathroom. You’ll be within walking distance of the town centre. You’ll be on a half board basis, meaning breakfast and evening meal will be provided each day. Your evening meals will be at your hotel. If your dates coincide with other groups in the Choral Fortnight you can enjoy a special festive dinner together.
We look forward to welcoming you to this very special event.
We will close the bookings for our Festival when we have reached capacity of 6 choirs.
