The Cotswolds is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with rolling hills and medieval, story-book villages. It is the birthplace of notable English composers, including Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Edward Elgar, no doubt they were inspired by their surroundings. It is only a stone’s throw from the cities of Bath and Oxford, while there are also many peaceful towns with thatched roofs and meandering streams to visit.
The Cotswolds welcomes thousands of tourists every year, so there’s certainly the audiences and appetite for concerts! The town of Burford, known as the gateway to The Cotswolds, hosts the annual Burford Festival with a broad programme of music. There are a variety of venues to choose from. Where possible, we will try to arrange for you to perform in local schools.
Day 1
Morning departure and visit to Blenheim Palace before travelling onto accommodation.
Day 2
Morning visit to Broadway Tower or the Cotswold’s Wildlife Park and Gardens in Burford. Afternoon concert in Burford and free time to explore the village’s ancient houses and shops on its famous high street.
Day 3
Morning concert in Cirencester. Explore Bourton-on-the Water, ‘the Venice of the Cotswolds’, en route home.
World Heritage Site in Oxfordshire. Birthplace of Winston Churchill.
Great views from the second highest point on the Cotswold Ridge.
There are giraffes, lions and rhinos to see in the park!
In Cirencester, ‘Capital of the Cotswolds’. There are a range of finds from the Roman town Corinium.
The area has a range of accommodation to suit all budgets, including a range of hotels and a YHA hostel. They are all placed in great locations, giving easy access to venues and excursion possibilities. We will arrange for you stay in the accommodation that best suits your needs.
We understand that school music tours are considered as a reward or holiday for many groups and that where you stay is really important. All hotels and hostels we use are suitable for young music ensembles with many offering rehearsal space and instrument storage. Rooms are normally multi-bedded for students and twins, sometimes singles, for adults. Generally, rooms are en-suite.
We can send you mini-brochures to hand out at your rehearsals and a PowerPoint presentation for assemblies and parent’s meetings you may wish to hold. We also have a promotional poster to put up around your school, which you can download here. This will make it easier for you to get your students excited about your plans.
You should book your tour between 8-18 months in advance. This will give us time to find the best possible venues for your tour and you will have ample time for fundraising should you need to do so.
