Gothia Cup (Gothenburg)

Gothia Cup is the world’s largest and most international youth football tournament that takes place every July in Gothenburg, Sweden. This tournament that has been running since 1975 is attended by teams from more than 80 nations across the world. It prides itself on not only running a great tournament, but giving kids an all round incredible experience to meet new people and socialise with the world’s youth, irrespective of religion, skin colour or nationality.

Age categories (Boys & Girls categories)

7-a-side: U11 and U12.
11-a-side: U13, U14, U15, U16 and U18.

Extra Activities/Excursions

  • Liseberg: Scandinavia’s largest amusement park.
  • Gökboet: Family activity centre with lots of games like Bumperball, Archery and Sumo Wrestling!
  • The Universeum: a science centre where you can explore the rainforest, dive into the ocean zone or experiment in the chemistry lab.
  • Boat tours

Public transport and activities are all free or discounted with a Gothia Card.

Sample Itinerary

Day one

Morning departure from school. Check in to accommodation and register your team.

Day two

Group stages start this morning followed this evening by the Gothia Opening Ceremony, a two- hour show of music, dancing, fireworks and a presentation of all participating nations.

Day three

Group stages continue throughout the day. This evening is the Gothia Leaders Party at the Scandinavium arena.

Day four

The last group stage games are played this morning leading into the start of the play offs this afternoon. The top two teams qualify for “Play-Off A” and the remaining teams for “Play-Off B”.

Day five:

Play offs continue today for all categories.

Day six:

Today is the start of the A-finals. If you haven’t made it this far then take the time to explore Gothenburg or watch some great matches.

Day seven:

The B-finals are played this morning before check out and departure for your journey home.

Availability of tickets for professional matches will be dictated by tour dates.
