Multi-sports tour to Elite Athlete Centre, Loughborough University
Centre of Excellence for multi-sports
A stay at the Elite Athlete Centre at Loughborough University offers teams an inspiring and invigorating environment to follow a training camp for almost all sports – including netball, cricket, football, tennis, basketball and rugby. Loughborough University is ranked the best university in the world for sports-related subjects under the 2019 QS World University Rankings. Its Elite Athlete Centre is a world-class venue that promotes the pursuit of excellence; it has welcomed the likes of Sebastian Coe, Paula Radcliffe, Tanni Grey-Thompson and Clive Woodward.
Loughborough Sport will personalise camps as much as possible, enabling teams to get the most from daily masterclasses, training sessions, sports science workshops and local fixtures.
Loughborough University is a 2-hour drive from Manchester, where teams can travel to enjoy professional matches, stadium tours, or even a trip to Alton Towers theme park.
Sample itinerary
Availability of tickets for professional matches will be dictated by tour dates.
Day 1
Arrival into Manchester. Explore this vibrant city and see a professional match. (Availability of tickets for professional matches will be dictated by tour dates).
Day 2
Transfer to Loughborough and settle in with a campus orientation. In the afternoon enjoy the first sports session and sports science workshop. Free time to make the most of the centre’s ‘turn up and play’ sports facilities.
Day 3
Morning sports session and Loughborough University masterclass. Afternoon sports session and sports science workshop. Evening social activity.
Day 4
Morning sports session and Loughborough University masterclass with Q&A. Local fixture in the afternoon.
Day 5
Leave the Centre to enjoy a day at Alton Towers. Onwards transfer to Manchester.
Day 6
Morning visit to Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United, for stadium and museum tour. Enjoy lunch in the Red Café. In the afternoon explore the National Football museum before departure.

The Elite Athlete Centre is at the heart of Loughborough University’s world leading sports facilities and it is the first and only hotel in the UK designed for elite athletes. The hotel overlooks an inspiring running track and field. Students stay in twin rooms and can enjoy a full board meal package within the sports nutrition restaurant. The centre has 20 unique altitude bedrooms should students want to experience sleeping high and training low!
Groups can also choose to stay in halls on Loughborough University Campus, but only during the university summer break.
Loughborough Sport can provide a team liaison throughout the duration of your stay in Loughborough.
