School travel to Germany in good shape

  • Jul 07, 2014

Two of our schools have just got back from successful student travel tours to Germany.

One school enjoyed a German language trip to Boppard in the Rhineland. In addition to their morning language lessons, the group went swimming and bowling and enjoyed trips to Rüdesheim, the Marksburg Castle and the famous Phantasialand theme park.

“The trip went well,” their party leader said. “It was an ideal location and destination and the accommodation was great. Our students enjoyed all the excursions and had several opportunities to use their German language skills.”

Another group had an amazing history trip to Berlin. As well as the famous sights of the city, they visited the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and Berlin’s World War II underground bunkers.

Their party leader really summed up how we feel about our student travel tours and the wonderful real life engagement it offers students:

“The students gained information and facts for all the questions for the Nazi Germany OCR coursework module. We also had sections to talk about what the students had seen to try to get them to think outside the box and not take the information at face value. The relationships between staff and students developed so when we get back I believe (and know from previous trips) that students feel happier to talk to me. They also bonded as a group and therefore will work better when we get back. It was great seeing the students interest in history develop.”
