New Italian Art and Culture school travel tour

  • Feb 02, 2015

Have you considered taking your arts students on a two-centre trip to Italy?

Our school travel tour incorporates two of Italy’s great cities – Florence and Rome. Both have rich collections of art, culture and literature from many different periods and a broad cultural influence across the world.

In Florence, students will discover for themselves the motivations and influences of the artists and designers they are studying, experiencing first-hand the environment which shaped great artists and architects such as Michelangelo, Brunelleschi and Donatello. From the jutting towers of the medieval hill town of San Gimignano to the amazing architectural history of Siena and Pisa, Tuscany is a really inspirational place for all students.

When they are in Rome, they will have over 3,000 years of history, culture and architecture on their doorstep. Rome is one of the most beautiful and ancient cities in the world, offering a wonderful opportunity to discover some of the ancient sites that inspired the greatest writers and artists of Roman history.

In addition this trip could also appeal to science students:
• The Museo Galileo in Florence contains Galileo’s early telescopes, apparatus he designed and even his finger!
• Visit the Leaning tower of Pisa, where he dropped objects in an attempt to calculate acceleration due to gravity.
• Leonardo da Vinci was not just a great artist but also a great scientist. The Da Vinci Museum in Florence contains models of many of his inventions.
• Architectural wonders – the roof of the Pantheon, the dome of St. Peter’s, the Colosseum, the leaning tower of Pisa.
