One of our international Gems schools in Dubai came to the UK for a five-day school performance arts tour last month and won a prestigious Performing Arts competition.
The Rock Challenge is a series of performing arts events in which groups from around the world compete against other school performance arts groups in a specially-choreographed dance-drama performance. The schools have already got through the preliminary stage in their own country. The day culminates in an evening programme or performances, which is judged by a panel of specialists from the performing-arts industry.
Our Gems school were the outright winners and were also winners in several individual categories, receiving Excellence Awards for Drama, Choreography, Video Performance, Entertainment and Performance Skill. They also won the Award for Performers Choice.
Many congratulations to the group – we’re delighted with their success. In addition to their day in Stevenage at the Rock Challenge, their five-day tour also included visits to two West End shows, the Tate Modern and a trip to Watford to visit the Harry Potter experience.
