New online teachers resource: let us bring the world to your students!

While students are unable to travel the world, we've found a way to bring the world to them.

In conjunction with our many travel partners, we're creating an exciting series of free, accessible, and curriculum-linked Virtual Travel Encounters for students to engage in.

A Virtual Travel Encounter will complement and enrich students’ learning, as well as enhance cultural capital.

Here are some of the first encounters we have up our sleeve. Watch this space for more!

  • A French language exchange with a school in the quintessentially French city of Laon, northern France: French students present for your class in English, and your class present in French. Perhaps they can share their experiences of the past few months? Or perhaps you want to bring to life a current topic in class? We are also developing a Q&A with a local celebrity..

  • Take part in a virtual fieldtrip using real data collected by students on residential study courses in the stunning Tabernas Desert, Spain, and the glaciated landscape of Andorra. The activities are put together by a fantastic expert who is a former manager at a UK Field Studies Centre with over 30 years’ experience teaching field studies.

  • Take your class on a virtual tour of a site you have always wanted to visit. For example, as Armistice Day approaches, explore the WW1 trenches at Chemin des Dames in northern France. An unforgettable experience.

  • Bring space, technology and innovation into the classroom with a Q&A with the European Space Agency’s (ESA) technical heart ESTEC in the Netherlands.

  • Engage in the French Department of Aube’s celebrations of the 600th anniversary of the Treaty of Troyes between France and England.

  • Understand how the Forestry Commission manages its woods sustainably for society and the environment through a series of Google Expedition tours. Explore career opportunities within the Forestry Commission, from arborist to ecologist.

  • School travel has gone online, travel the world with our virtual travel encounters
  • See what a CAS trip to the beautiful wilderness of Romania would be like.

  • Engage your class with two, 4-day virtual itineraries to Washington covering General Education and Black History. Both come with activities and teaching resources to complement the experiences.

  • In the run up to the US presidential election, step into the U.S Capitol with a guided virtual tour, explore the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument with 360 degrees videos, and enjoy a virtual exhibit of America’s Presidents at the National Portrait Gallery.

  • During Black History Month, visit exhibits at the Smithsonian African American Museum and take a virtual tour of Arlington National Cemetery and walk the cemetery’s Black history.

Please get in touch with us if you'd like us to create a Virtual Travel Encounter for your students. As with all our educational school tours, we will tailor your Virtual Travel Encounter to your requirements and your students’ needs.
