Wallonia lies in the southern part of Belgium and is its French-speaking region. Sharing its border with France, Germany and Luxembourg, Wallonia incorporates the beautiful Ardennes, a hilly, green area which is a well-visited tourist destination. This region has so much to offer school music groups: an area of outstanding natural beauty, it also gives visitors the chance to experience the fascinating culture of the Wallonian region. Perfect for groups who have already toured to Belgium, who may be looking for a new affordable location in the same country, Wallonia’s many venues make it ideal for any ensemble type.
There is such enthusiasm amongst those who organise the events in which our groups take part. Many of the gorgeous town squares offer an excellent backdrop to afternoon concerts, often providing a purpose-built stage or a bandstand. Churches across the region also welcome choirs and orchestras and concerts are generally well-attended. Nearby Brussels gives groups the opportunity to perform on the bandstand in the Royal Park, while Brussels Cathedral is a wonderful venue for those with a classical and sacred repertoire.
Day 1
Morning departure for journey to Belgium. Afternoon arrival and time to explore.
Day 2
Spend the day in Namur. Visit the famous Citadel and perform a lunchtime concert in the main square. Time for shopping and exploring this medieval town. Enjoy a round of mini-golf in the evening.
Day 3
Spend time at the Walibi Theme Park before heading to Brussels for an afternoon concert in the band stand. Afternoon visit to the Musical Instrument Museum in Brussels.
Day 4
Morning departure for early afternoon ferry and evening arrival home.
Impressive subterranean world through some of Europe’s most beautiful cave formations.
See the spectacular Grand’Place and the excellent Musical Instruments Museum.
Be an astronaut for the day at this world-renowned educational facility.
Excellent theme park with rides for all ages.
The region has many excellent youth hostels that offer great value and a warm welcome for our groups. The mediaeval town of Mons makes a great base. Its youth hostel is a modern building located very close to the town centre. All bedrooms are en suite and there are several conference rooms that can be used for rehearsals or meetings.
We accept any group as long as they are used to performing together as an ensemble, even if only to their fellow students and parents. We always ask for a recent recording of your group and we have range of venues on offer that will welcome beginner groups as well as experienced ensembles.
The most pleasant times of year to come to Europe are May to September, therefore you may wish to consider this when planning your tour. Summer temperatures across Europe range from 18-35 degrees Celsius. European cities in winter can also offer many interesting cultural experiences that you may enjoy.
