Pre-Loved Ski Wear: What’s Not to Love?

October 03, 2022

We are delighted to announce that Club Europe and WhoSki.com will be working together this winter season to promote sustainable ski clothing choices to all our school ski trips.

The idea is simple: reduce the quantity of new ski clothes that are bought and old ones that are sent to landfill, by enabling families to buy and sell pre-loved ski wear on a specific platform.

Why?

In the UK, 350k tonnes of used clothing goes to landfill annually; another 80k is incinerated. That amounts to 11 million pieces of discarded clothing EVERY WEEK. Ski and snowboard clothes are part of this problem – they are very difficult to recycle and are now even starting to turn up in textile dumps in the Global South.

Who?

WhoSki.com is a UK-based circular economy business with a sustainable ideology, driving change in the wintersports sector and keeping ski wear in active use. Every time someone sells and buys via their peer-to-peer marketplace, one less item pollutes the environment or is repurposed. In addition, 25% of WhoSki’s commission is donated to award-winning teenage mental health charity, stem4.

How?

As part of Club Europe’s own sustainability policy, we are delighted to promote WhoSki to our school ski trip groups so that they can consider buying used ski wear before new. This not only helps the environment but gives families a small financial boost – saving money on ski wear and perhaps by selling their own unwanted ski fit, making a few pennies too.
