Male Choir return from a wonderful tour to Cork

May 26, 2022

A Welsh male voice choir from Cardiff have just returned from a fantastic choir tour to the Cork area of Southern Ireland.

The group who were based in Clonakilty, 45 minutes outside Cork, took full advantage of being in one of Ireland’s most beautiful and vibrant regions.

When not performing, they enjoyed the craic in the city’s pubs and restaurants, took time to explore Cork and visited the popular House of Waterford Crystal.

They performed two concerts one in a church and one in a hotel.

“One of the highlights was singing the Welsh anthem in the church,” commented Choir Secretary Gary Morgan. “The acoustics were superb and the concert was extremely successful. We were the talk of the area! We’d love to return to this venue.”

“We are hoping to go back to Cork next year and would definitely recommend the Cork area as a touring destination to other choirs. It’s worth knowing that there is usually a Cork Choral Festival on the Spring Bank Holiday every year, which may re-start next year after a break because of Covid.

"Next year we may fly to Cork as the journey by ferry and road is quite a long haul, even though we had good laugh on the coach!

“If other male voice choirs are considering touring, I would say ‘go for it’ because the welcome you will receive is second to none.

“Considering the issues with cancellations due to Covid, the trip was brilliant. [Cub Europe’s Managing Director] Tim is a top guy; he was always supportive and someone we could trust. “Lucy [our Account Manager] has been brilliant throughout this long process; extremely positive, patient and helpful.”
