We’re thrilled to have been finalists for this year’s Best Musical Initiative Award at the Music Teacher Awards for Excellence. Pictured below are some of our music team attending the black-tie event where the winners were announced.
We were shortlisted for our Proud to Perform initiative, in which we fully funded a music tour for a disadvantaged young brass band from London.
They enjoyed a wonderful three-day tour to Paris in the summer.
“I am delighted our Proud to Perform initiative was acknowledged in this way,” said Lucy Szymonski, our head of concert tours. “It was a real privilege to work on this project and give an amazing music touring experience to a disadvantaged young ensemble who would otherwise not be able to afford to tour.
“Whether taking part in a mass in Barcelona Cathedral, playing at the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate or performing in a bandstand in Paris, our school music tours give young musicians very special musical memories and I’m so pleased that this unique part of music education has been recognised.”
