We’re very pleased to report that music-making in one South East London borough is thriving and that Club Europe are playing our part in this boom.

We’re delighted to be organising school music tours for six schools in Bromley. Some of them have had several generations of teachers organising their tours with us. To make their tours as accessible as possible, Bromley schools tend to offer them to all students from a mix of ensembles, often arranging the music around who’s on the tour and what instruments they play.

One of the most important aspects of music tours in the borough is that they are an opportunity for students to bond and perform to new audiences. It’s also one of the few opportunities students have to tour with students of a different age. One of our longest standing party leaders in Bromley is Jane Werry, Head of Music from Hayes, who is off to Budapest for the second time next April. Watch our short film to see what she has to say about her recent music tour to Saxony.

In addition to Hayes, our Bromley schools feature: two all-boys choirs, one is off to the Black Forest next Summer; a mixed ensembles tour, including a choir and steelband who are off to Barcelona next year; and a new recruit to our Bromley family, who is taking a non-auditioned orchestra to Flanders in 2019 where they’ll play in retirement homes and bandstands.

Darrick Wood School went on their first school music tour with us in 1996, although their current Head of Music, Maureen Wolloshin was also one of our very first music leaders in the 80s. Watch a short film of her mixed ensemble music tour to Flanders this summer, where she has some handy tips for first time tourers.

While our Bromley schools have largely chosen central and eastern Europe and the Mediterranean for their music tours, we have some great closer to home destinations if that would suit your ensemble more.
