An educational school trip to the beautiful and historic city of York has so much to offer students. After breakfast take a private coach to visit Eden Camp, where you can take part in a number of WW2 activities such as an opportunity to be an evacuee in a very special "experience" as portrayed by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (may be subject to restrictions). After dinner a chance to take a spooky walking tour of the York Dungeons.

Day 5
After breakfast, pack up your bags, check out and meet your coach. En route home, enjoy a guided tour of the Royal Armouries, Leeds. Their educational team will ensure your group have a great send off to your trip. Enjoy lunch at the world-famous Harry Ramsden's Fish & Chip shop (not included).
One of the most famous and astounding discoveries of modern archaeology. Between 1976-81 archaeologists from York Archaeological Trust, revealed the houses, workshops and backyards of the Viking-age city of Jorvik as it stood nearly 1,000 years ago. The Centre is built on the very site where these excavations took place, so you take a journey through the reconstruction of Viking-age streets and experience life as it would have been in 10th century York.
Through its immersive displays, experience the sights, sounds and smells of life on the Home Front and the Front Line, all set in the buildings and grounds of an original World War 2 Prisoner of War Camp.
The York Dungeon brings together an amazing cast of theatrical actors, special effects, stages and scenes. Experience a 60-minute journey through 2000 years of York’s murky history, as a full cast of historic characters, played by real actors, takes you through every era from the Vikings to Dick Turpin and beyond.
The Yorkshire Air Museum and Allied Air Forces Memorial is based on a former RAF airbase which was home to thousands of airmen from allied nations during the second world war. The Museum presents a spectacular collection of aircraft and exhibitions covering 150 years of aviation in a setting of preserved wartime buildings and woodland. Over two hours you will discover Yorkshire’s greatest invention – the very first manned flying machine – and other treasures of aviation.
This experience begins by being met at the station by a ‘Billeting Officer’ who will check students for labels and gas mask boxes before boarding the train. (We will send you instructions on how to make gas mask boxes prior to your visit.) Once on board students will be shown gas masks and gas rattles, learn about air raids and listen to reminiscence of real life evacuees from Middlesbrough evacuated during WWII on this train route. Your students will take part in the activity, “Who will you be housed with?”, before arriving at their destination (may be subject to restrictions).

There are over 140 different species of animals at Flamingo Land and students will see a range of these on their tour and during their workshop.

The most pleasant time of year to come to Europe is between May and September; you may wish to consider this when planning your tour. Summer temperatures across Europe range from 18-35 degrees Celsius. European cities in winter can also offer many interesting cultural experiences that you may enjoy.
